Social Franchise by “MINDY”

Real Assistance for Veterans and Civilians Where It’s Needed Most – Right Now

This project is being implemented under the social franchise of the charitable foundation “MINDY,” a partner of Ukraine’s national mental health program “How Are You?”—an initiative led by Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska.

The project has been made possible through collaboration with the KMU Coordination Center / Mental Health UA and the NGO Bezbarriernist (No Barriers) with support from regional military administrations, city councils, international organizations, and the Business Without Barriers community.

About the Social Franchise

A social franchise is a way to scale up effective practices that address critical social challenges.

This particular franchise stems from experience in psychological support and physical rehabilitation. Between 2022 and 2023, “MINDY” specialists provided over 3,000 sessions of assistance to veterans, their families, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and those affected by the war.

The “MINDY” team, together with experts and specialists, developed this franchise to create compact, multifunctional modules and clusters for physical rehabilitation, health recovery, and access to psychological and social services.

This social franchise brings together businesses, government agencies, communities, and NGOs to collaborate, assist one another, and unlock unique opportunities.

Our Goal

The goal of this project is to bring modern, free rehabilitation and psychosocial services to small towns across Ukraine, especially where such services are unavailable, logistically difficult to access, or of insufficient quality.

Mobile Rehabilitation Modules and Clusters

Through experience, we recognized the need to deliver assistance directly to regions where it is often impossible to access. Constructing permanent buildings is both time-consuming and costly, while help is urgently needed now. This led to the concept of Mobile Rehabilitation Modules.

With our social franchise model, we can manufacture, assemble, deliver, and launch a module within 3–4 months, depending on the type of building. We also train teams and ensure their operations meet the franchise network’s standards. This allows communities to quickly gain modern infrastructure that is part of a nationwide network dedicated to assisting veterans and civilians in smaller towns across Ukraine.

Our modules are compact, multifunctional units ranging from 36 to 130 square meters, built using modular technology, and transported to communities. When necessary, these modules can be relocated to other towns in the region where services are urgently needed.

However, the module alone is not enough. Without the social franchise, the operational framework is missing—there’s a host of bureaucratic tasks, permits, standards, regulations, specialist qualifications, and logistical hurdles. These challenges often surface when you attempt practical implementation.

With our social franchise, all these challenges are addressed! Everything is handled turnkey—you receive a fully functional facility. All standards are met, and necessary permits are secured. The interactions between local authorities, communities, and project donors are well-defined. Everyone knows their role in ensuring the module operates effectively, delivering aid to veterans and civilians affected by the war.

In parallel with module production, we assist in forming, preparing, and training multidisciplinary teams to operate within the modules. Specialists undergo both online and offline training, preparing them to work as a team. They also gain access to an educational platform offering courses, tests, a knowledge base, and a guide for organizing module operations.

Even after the module is operational, we continue to support local teams. We actively integrate their work with municipal and state services.

Our social franchise is a powerful, action-oriented tool for providing help. Anyone can become a donor—businesses, communities, international organizations, or the government. The social franchise is a universal instrument for quickly bringing modern services to communities across Ukraine. It allows veterans and their families to receive help near their homes.
